The GoStation is not your average band. Comprised of four friends who came together to express a musical vision far removed from their environmental upbringing, The GoStation call NYC home, but forge a sound with Britpop sensibility. The driving rhythms and meandering melodic characteristics of a post-psychedelic British powerpop are infused throughout their sound. Ask the band their influences, and you get a list of whos who in the Britpop and American Blues Rock cannon, however the major influence shared by all is undoubtedly Oasis.

From their first show, an appearance at the sold out Knitting Factory Old Office, to their most recent performance at the Luna Lounge, the members of The GoStation are constantly in pursuit of the perfect blend. Early attempts to find the right mixture saw the sound thinned when they parted ways with original rhythm guitarist Alex.

Lead singer Doug Levy has struggled since inception to polish his unique voice, and has picked up some tricks along the way, improving his style and technique with each appearance. Guitarist Matt Friedlander is the virtuoso behind much of the melodic magic, as his amped up Jimmy Page style allows solo time to be filled with sonic candy. Covering both lead and rhythmic responsibility, Matt lends clean hooks and kick ass solo work to the GoStation sound. Nick Picozzi lays down a solid bottom, with a good sense of rhythmic responsibility, and looks good while doing it. Joel Frost, the bombastic percussionist behind the kit, controls the tempo well and communicates with the band often to keep them in the pocket.

The guys have received a lot of attention from the NYC scene, with reviews posted on Melodynelson, Jenyk and Braquage. The buzz is worthy, as The GoStation has consistently performed to good crowds at some of Manhattan s finest venues for rock music. Soon, they embark on small tours outside of the boroughs, trying to expand their fan base into Massachusetts and NJ. Also in the studio, The GoStation have an EP release planned for the summer of 04.

The GoStation have a long way to go to reach their goals, but they are certainly on the right track. Recording sessions, out of state bookings, a management relationship; these guys are being smart about their successes, and building for the future. Keep an eye out for this rising band, you wont be disappointed.
