The lounge stays true to the
CBGB’s way
with great live bands in a cool rock n’ roll atmosphere. CBGB’s
Lounge is a cozy and hip basement sanctuary for NYC bands. The mood
of the club really is that of a lounge. It is decorated with vintage–style
couches all around for you to sit with your crew and enjoy the tunes.
The whole place has a vintage feel, and is quite comfy. Don’t
let the lounge’s throw back décor confuse you; during
the course of a week, there are many entertaining performances by
some of NY’s most interesting bands. Like its big brother
CBGB OMFUG, located right next door, the lounge provides a variety
of up and coming artists. The stage and sound system are modest,
but supply an intimate outlet. Unlike CBGB OMFUG, the lounge does
not have shows every day of the week as of yet. The schedule is
not set in stone, so be sure to check the website www.cbgb.com and
follow the link to the lounge for more details. The lounge is a
great place for baby bands to play- with the famous CBGB name attached,
it definitely stands to deliver credit to the bands that get the
opportunity to play there. The lounge plays host to an assortment
of different shows and events. They have singer-songwriter sessions,
and NYC based GNYCTV presents showcases there on a regular basis.
Just bout every Sunday they present Freestyle Events: Hardcore Jazz
& Avant Music, which showcases freestyle jazz artists in a comfortable
setting. The lounge also presents events with MotherNYC; check out
the site for upcoming events (www.mothernyc.com). Admission charge
for shows varies just like the days of operation. The fee is anywhere
from $5 - $10 which is reasonable for your pocket. Drinks are moderately
priced and resemble the prices at Big Brother OMFUG. |
