Kush Lounge, located at 183 Orchard
St (b/w Houston & Stanton), is NYC’s first Hookah Lounge.
It’s also a great and totally tranquil atmosphere accompanied
by a variety of exotic global music and famous North African décor,
where smoking is STILL permitted! The Kush Lounge is a Moroccan
Hookah lounge and is decorated with great detail. There is a strong
representation of Moroccan colors and textures. The ambiance is
calming and lit almost entirely by candlelight. There are many little
nooks with cozy seating and cocktail tables, even secluded areas
perfect for couples. (cont...)

The whole place
is relaxing and makes you feel like you aren’t in New York!
There are 2 bars where you have the option of purchasing a drink,
exotic Moroccan beer, or Hookah with different flavored tobacco.
Apple is my favorite flavor. You can sit at the bar, any of the
intimate banquettes, Moroccan style couches, or Moroccan-tile cocktail
tables, with your drink, a hookah and/or a cigarette. The Kush lounge
hosts events every night of the week and showcases exotic global
music. Sunday night is Total Reggae experience with some of the
finest on the downtown scene. Monday is Funky African night, with
the city’s best African DJ’s rotating. Tuesday is Middle
Eastern Night with fiery live music and belly dancers. Karsh Kale,
Global Beat Fushion & EthnoTechno Kollective, showcase the sounds
of the Asian Massive music scene and beyond, on Wednesday nights
Thursday nights
feature Under the Radar, which is a night of cutting edge eclectic
beats fused with global sounds. Friday and Saturday nights play
hosts to even more culturally diverse musical styles, and live performances.
Check out the site www.kushbar.com for more info and more detailed
descriptions of nightly events. The Kush Lounge offers a great atmosphere
for showcasing world music; culturally diverse and exciting live
performances. A great escape from the basic NYC bar and live music
outlet. Most of the time admission is free, and drink prices are
fair. Best of all you can sample flavored tobacco lit with hot coals
from authentic hookahs for only $15.
