In
many nations, soccer is considered the sport of the gods, and
until this year, there had never been a video game to really
do the divine sport any justice. Konami’s Winning
Eleven 7 is, without a doubt, the most fun, realistic soccer
game that one can purchase today. The game features national
teams and beloved club teams like Leeds United, Real Madrid,
Manchester United, and Newcastle, as well as a host of classic
teams to unlock. The controls are a little difficult to pick
up at first, but with a little time, practice, and concentration,
the control comes naturally and the game gets extremely fun.
It is a particularly fun two player game, but it is also fun
to play alone or with 3 or 4 people. When you really get into
it, you start to learn your team, rearrange your lines to suit
your needs, try different strategies, memorize your players’
dominant feet, and truly immerse yourself in the world of soccer.
The graphics are smooth and realistic and the audio is very
solid, with European-style techno music in the load screens,
and a very responsive soccer crowd during the games. The British
announcers
are surprisingly smooth in their commentary, and if you really
don’t like it, you can turn it off, or have them announce
the game in Spanish! If soccer is a sport you like, then even
watching this game will be fun. Every game has its share of
intense moments and stunning goals, especially with the stronger
countries and franchises. While FIFA soccer games have been
around for about 10 years, Konami has created a much more lifelike
soccer simulation in Winning Eleven 7, and with a little
bit of practice, it handles like a more lifelike simulation
as well. |
