Mario
Party is a virtual board game aimed
towards children, but it is fun for all ages. Each player
rolls the die and goes a number of spaces trying to
collect coins and buy stars (the player with the most
stars at the end wins). After each player takes one
turn, everyone plays a “mini-game,” which
is a short game, battle, or competition to collect more
coins. Some are sheer luck, some involve pushing a controller
button as fast as humanly possible, and some require
more complex skill. The sixth and seventh installments
of this game even include a microphone and mini-games
that have one player yelling commands into the Gamecube.
What makes this game fun is the numerous secrets, characters
and stages you can unlock, as well as the element of
luck, which allows your seven year old cousin to beat
you at this game. Version seven utilizes the microphone,
supports up to eight players and adds two new characters
to the rooster (Birdo & Dry Bones). Mario Party
v. 1-3 are tough to find, but available for the N64,
while v. 4-7 are Gamecube Carts. On the go? Check out
