However, while most artists
“going pop” obnoxiously aim for Top 40 success,
Michelangelo isn’t going to alienate any of his followers
with his third full-length, Future Perfect. Instead,
this disc features inspired music that incorporates elements
of jazz, blues, funk, and adult contemporary rock with the
expected blend of verses and choruses. In stating all of
those genres within the same sentence, perhaps his self-described
style of “Prince meets Steely Dan meets Jamiroquai
meets Thomas Dolby” is right-on. We’re talking
about an eclectic composer, for sure.
While Future Perfect isn’t the sort of the
collection that you’d be expecting to reach mainstream
FM airwaves, success has already been achieved through a
variety of outlets. Beyond the play on AAA and college radio
outlets alike – much of which for “Linger”
– ring-tones are currently in production (also
, two tracks from Future Perfect, “Reach”
and “Poison” can be found on Cityzen Radio-
Ed.). And this is without the publicity push, extensive
touring, and industry conference appearances that are all
slotted for the near-future. Talk about innovative approaches
to marketing and self-production for an indie artist! |
